In Italy, StudioSit srl has built up its own toponymy geodatabase
STUDIO SIT and Location srl was conceived of in 1991, the dim and distant past for many. Involved the surveying and mapping of southern european house numbering (numerazione civica), the Ligurian company has been able to exceed a high degree of accuracy , completeness and updating, unique in this sector, which traditionally lacks in availability of good quality toponymy data(dati toponomastici).
The quality of toponymy data (dati toponomastici) has come increasingly under the microscope in recent years. These augmentations infiltrating the sector now require extremely accurate (georeferenziati), up-to-date and comprehensive data, most crucially in respect of, for example, deliveries, automatic driving projects, emergency services and applications inherent to civil protection.
